Hope He's Okay...

Hello, all. Another recap is in order.
Well, if you have had your head under a stinkin' rock for the past weekend, and if you have not yet read Ojava's blog, you will be very sad to know that no triple crown will be won this year. Right before the much-anticipated Preakness, or however the heck you spell that, Stakes, while all the horses were in the gate, the favorite, Barbaro, broke free of the gate and charged onto the track before the race began. He was loaded back in and the race began. Only a hundred yards or so in, however, the jockey pulled him out of the race, thus eliminating the favorite from the triple crown. As soon as he was pulled out, the trainer raced onto the track faster than I have ever seen. The jockey said that he "Heard a noise" and thought he should take him out. It turns out he had fractured his right rear ankle in three places. For a human, that is very painful. For a horse, it is reason to be put down. The track vet called the wound "Very life threatening". The career of the promising young colt is over, but, after surgery, he appears to be getting better. He still, however, has only a fifty-fifty chance of survival.
Not much else has happened. I am in my last week of school, though. I am almost finished with math. I'm free for three months from having to "find the square root using the method that is so stinkin hard that they can't come up with a crappy name for the crappy method!!!!!! similar to long division." *ahem*.
Well, I'm starved for ideas. I can't wait for the CSI:Miami finale tonight. Marisol is deader than a doornail after only being married to H (um,EW!) for about eleven hours. Bummer, Ted. Bye!:)!

Love the post and love the horsey...have not heard much today but am still hoping for the best for him...it was the saddest race I have ever seen since Charismatic in the Belmont...he seems like such a very special horse, as was Charismatic....I want to get back to Churchill Downs...it calls to me as your sister would say....I love your math square root crossed out description -- aren't you glad I did not make you memorize it????? Keep up the good work - summer is almost here!!!!!

The horse is doing better and that makes me feel better myself. I spent a lot of Sunday and most of Monday sort of in a funk. Mi_morena mused about how she still seemed attached to horses despite being somewhat distanced from them for a number of years. I think the whole notion of the track and racing and the like is something that gets in your blood. I can honestly tell you that I have never bet more than one hundred dollars in my life at the track.... total. It is the atmosphere and the horses. I spent my birthday at Delmar race track in San diego last year, as a guest of a client. Talk about history.... I feel your pain.
