Vacation/Irish Fest/Civilization II Narratives

Well, I finally decided to update. I'm sure you're all soooo happy. (FYI, the Invasion part of my title is the movie. Not my many conquests in Civ II. The italics doesn't work in titles.)

Well, as we were driving home from Minnesota, Rockford turned around and declared that she expected good blog posts from all of us when we got home. I realize that was a week ago, but I move at my own pace.

Galena: Our first trip of the Week of Multiple Vacations. Remembering the second paragraph of my last trip post, nothing really unique happened this time. But, that is the problem with traveling to the same place biannualy So, really, I see no need for a lengthy trip synopsis. However, a few little points may help to state that a few differences did occur:

1). The "awesome pirate sword" in the last post was replaced with three different ones: (Note: These are the swords true names, so, for your aid, I will link each sword name to it's respective page on Wikipedia. This is me helping all those who don't understand the intricate world of bladed weapons.)

The first one had an S-shaped guard that looked like a falchion's, but the blade of a claymore, but vastly shorter. It may have been an arming sword.

The second one was the same as the first one, but its guard was C-shaped. They both may have both been arming swords.

The third was a roman gladius.

My dad didn't get any of them, however.

2). Seeing as it's summer, we didn't pick up either of my sisters from school.

3). Seeing as Morena and I are somewhat over the Masons, we didn't go quite as crazy this time.

4). I was listening to my iPod, playing my DS, and we may have gone by a different route, so we didn't see any Nordic Lodges.

5). Due to my bizarrely obsessive exercise regimen, I was able to ascend "The Stairs of Death" very easily.

6). It didn't take me quite as long to fall asleep after dinner this time.

Minnesota: The trip there and back was much longer, but was made more humorous by the little towns in between that had less than 900 people. When we got there late Thursday night, we discovered, in addition to the prison down the street from our hotel, that St. Paul is a town of People Who Love Fast Food And Sit-Down Restaurants WAY TOO MUCH. We were only able to find, like, two Super Americas (Yes, that is in fact what they call Speedways there. The "The convenient stores of..." rhyme in the commercial doesn't work quite as well.), and only one of them had what I needed. Then we ate and fell asleep and all those other things that prevent us from dying and all that. The next morning, I woke up with all sorts of bumps all over any part of my skin that touched the bed. And the bed was weird. And broken. In fact, my back and neck hurt the next day. It's too complicated to get into now. I was also informed by Morena that the shower curtain was moldy. Ugh. Then, after breakfast, we drove around Minneapolis, which was VASTLY more interesting than St. Paul. Also, I can now say that I have been to BOTH two-story Target stores in the US. And I got one of the new Pokemon games. Yay. Then, we did something I can't remember, because I was a bit into the game. Then, we got ready to go to the concert. After eating at a pseudo-Irish place at what was essentially a 14" board screwed to the wall, we waited for about an hour. Then we saw the concert. It was very fun. Or at least, I think it would have been if I was there, seeing as the notion that me and Dad (read: The Guy Who Drove Across 1 1/2 States To Take Us To A Josh Groban Show) actually attended said concert ruins the experience for some people *CoughMorenaCoughCough*. Then we went to sleep, woke up, ate, and left. And that was the end of it.

Well, the end of those vacations, at least.

Many other things happened since then.

First off, I finally got CivII to work. Oddly, it won't work with the disk in, but it works nonetheless. And one day, I played it constantly. And more the next day. In fact, I played it every day but Friday.

Then, on Thursday, I got glasses. Cool ones, too. It is fun being able to see.

And then on Friday, we went to Irish Fest. And sat. The whole day. But at least we got to see the "Remembering Tommy Makem" thing. Also, I was introduced to Gaelic Storm. Not them personally, but I saw them and I like their songs now. Actually, I was introduced to a lot of music during this span of time, like Free Bird, or the Bane of Morena's Existence, in Galena, and it is now My Favorite Song Ever. Then on Saturday, I had Guitar Lessons. They're fun. I think I'm getting better. Then on sunday we went to Mass at Irish Fest and ran into a bunch of people we know. then we came home, and that was that.

Well, I am actually pressed for time, so that is that. I hope Mom thinks it's good.
